Hobart From Newsmerd

Consider doing this from a VNC session on newsmerd as this will allow remote control and monitoring. Try connecting first with:

newsmerd:~> vncviewer -shared newsmerd:1

If that doesn't work, start a VNC server with:

newsmerd:~> vncserver -alwaysshared -geometry 1500x800 -name Hobart26 :1

… and then start up a vncviewer.

Use secure shell login as user "oper" to Hobart from Newsmerd terminal.

newsmerd:~> ssh oper@hobart

Then type the following to begin field system,

hobart:~> fs

In a new shell, again login as user "oper" to Hobart from Newsmerd terminal.

newsmerd:~> ssh oper@hobart

Start the stalm task and window, (remember the ampersand at the end of the following commands, otherwise you'll need a new ssh login window)

hobart:~> stalm 5000 &

Start MK5 vc monitor,

hobart:~>/usr/bin/xterm -name monit3 -e /usr2/fs/bin/monit3 &

Start status monitor,

hobart:~> /usr/bin/xterm -name monit2 -e /usr2/fs/bin/monit2 &

Now continue with IVS setup... IVS Observing
